Africa is the poorest continent in the world. Although it has vast natural resources, it still remains to be underdeveloped. Poverty, diseases, and political strife have wreaked havoc on the region for years. And although the people are trying to rise, discriminatory issues remain and development is slow to happen. More than half of the populace is still living under poverty line and most children are left in African orphanages due to extreme scarcity.
Donors provide assistance to keep projects in the region going. Others go as far as volunteering their services to serve the people in the desolate countries in Africa. The orphanages are in dire need of volunteers to provide care for their charges. Teaching the children is an inspiring yet humbling experience. Children open up to strangers as they become part of their daily routine. It is inspiring because the children have this insatiable want to learn about anything. Teaching them ways to do business will eventually get them income for trading and attend to their basic needs.
